Humans have been successfully using violence for conflict-resolution for tens of thousands of years. We’ll be fine, it’s not our first rodeo.

Reducing this to zero should be our #1 goal. As technological advancement keeps allowing one bad person to take out more and more people, for lower cost. If technology keeps advancing, that ratio could eventually become 1:1B+, for a few thousand dollars.

In my opnion, this is the greatest race we are in, if we are to avoid our own Great Filter event. Using violence as a problem solving tool is simply not compatible with a truly technologically advanced species.

I don't see that as a guaranteed outcome if there's something like UBI to sustain demand, and automation to sustain supply.

UBI is only valuable if money is valuable though...what are you going to trade it for if no one has a job and everyone has access to super powerful production tools like advanced LLMs (which are at the low end of automated tooling overall)?

Idk, food and shelter?

"Vibe coding a house" will increase housing supply, (and automation at every step of supply chain too), but the costs will still be nonzero.

I’m sorry but what you’re saying is the reason why we won’t overturn systems of oppression.

If you’re expect to not be challenged in thought you are oppressing others.

Not to appeal to authority, but because I think it's useful, here's how the WHO defines it according to Wikipedia: > the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation Note words such as "power", "psychol…

Yes. That also takes resources away from people experiencing actual violence. The qualifier “physical violence” isn’t used by people that deal with violence. They use the term “violence”.

“Intellectual violence” is a term used by cowardly people that desire power and wish not to be challenged by others. Those people must be mocked at every opportunity to ensure they are never taken seriously.

UBI is not welfare. It is just a livable minimum wage, for everyone who works. For those who cannot work, it replaces welfare, but that is not it's primary purpose. As a welfare replacement, it is much more efficient, since there is no effort spent determining who qualifies. People can spent their money however they want, rather than the patchwork of separate programs we have now. It doesn't need to bring anyone down…

A UBI is basically impossible to implement on a large scale without there being significant downsides. In what world does increasing the budget by a trillion dollars or more work out well?

We are about to crank the budget by a half trillion just for the Department of War. Nobody seems to think that's a threat.

again, all the things you listed are just humans acting like humans, not aliens. Thinking these things are not things that fall within you own human nature is rather arrogant don't you think.

Oh so you want to beat people, but you don't want people to beat you? Such a brilliant insight!

So, are you guys saying, that the mass killings of protestors, did NOT happen? This is all just made up?

Not sure why you are asking me about it. The point of my comment is that Iran will allow streaming what they'd want people to see.

I guess the parent was saying since there is no evidence, then it didn't happen. Almost sounding like a conspiracy, like the 30k death are fake. And you are simply saying, the Iranian Gov is blocking the information, that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
