Server auction didn't change at all, the lowest price server is still around 33€.

Well it's an auction. They only set the starting price, and it keeps lowering periodically until someone buys.

What they can do is:

- Raise the price of already rented servers (which is happening Apr 1)

- Increase the minimum price beyond which a server is removed from auction and dismantled (I believe it is 30 euros right now)

Nothing has ever burst when production can't meet demand

It always bursts when demand stops. Current demand is artificially pumped up and financially unsustainable aka a bubble,

How is it artificially pumped everyone is at capacity, I'm using 2 pro subs per day, all my friends are using this new tech and so on. If you are still writing code you are smoked.

Maybe we need to let go of our auto-scaled 100 pod service mesh for a todo list app, and just deploy it bare metal on 2 servers.

You joke, but I remember seeing a talk by Wunderlist CTO who has pretty much that. Also polyglot company and microservices in random languages. Can't find the talk now, but https://www.infoq.com/news/2014/11/gotober-wunderlist-micros... mentions 60 services at least.

I need to get more ideas for my side project. A todo list app with micro services, but everything in bash scripts. So far it's just 6 services.

They don't "have them", they're building them . https://www.micron.com/us-expansion/id > Micron has already achieved key construction milestones on its first Idaho fab with DRAM output scheduled to begin in 2027. https://investors.micron.com/news-releases/news-release-deta... > Production is expected to start in 2030 with the fabs ramping throughout the decade. Until they start outputting DRAM in any meaningful quant…

It looks like it's still a big difference between how the US and EU are responding to the chip supply wars. The US is actually building their own manufacturing capabilities domestically while the EU is apparently doing nothing, which is unfortunate.

There is https://www.ferroelectric-memory.com/memory-chip-factory/

There is also https://www.vishay.com/ which expanded several sites in .de, without much fuss, or begging for subsidies. That is neither RAM, HBM, NAND, nor NOR, but nonetheless much needed stuff, for all the electrified cyber.

Pretty much everyone is on 300 mm wafers for everything now, and has been for a while. Are you perhaps reading this as 300 nm process (which would usually be called 0.3 micron)?

But in the context of what we are talking about it's still true that nobody in the EU is making cutting edge CPU/GPU/DRAM and there are no plans to do so either (including that Infineon fab).
