For me it was the other way around. The first book was so bad that I stopped reading fiction all together because I realized there are more important things I can do with my limited time.
Why was it bad in your opinion? Always interested how you can argue against this masterpiece.

This made the protagonist extremely annoying like a teenager who thinks he’s smart and talented because of good grades and then ends up working as a web dev later in life.
