I don't know how to take pictures out of Google photo, but it's very easy to move outside photos into Apple Photos. I do this quite often since I'm a Sunday photographer and wrangle my images in Lightroom Classic on a Windows box. If you have an iCloud subscription, you can do this directly with a browser, just click upload and wait for it to happen. There's also a Windows client for iCloud, but I've never tried it.

There's the "Google checkout" option, but I'm pretty sure you lose most of the metadata while using that.

Android does not require an account to download apps, as grandparent pointed out. I haven't "signed in" to Android phone in 10 years.

This has not been my experience. All the Android phones I've tried have forced me to sign in whenever I've opened the Play Store, it wouldn't let me continue without doing so.

It was a low single digit percentage of iPhone sales, clearly doesn’t warrant continuing the product line.

The problem with that is that the backtick key is awkwardly-placed on most (all?) non-US layouts.

In the UK, for instance, it's immediately above the option key so to hit it requires clawing together your thumb and little finger. It's surprisingly awkward to switch between that and Cmd+Tab.

GNOME does this much better - window switching is done using Super+. In the US, that remains ` but elsewhere it's so much better than on MacOS.

It moves the file? That's not the use case. The use case is copying a path and pasting it into the address bar of Explorer, and then Explorer showing the contents of the path. No file action is implied.

Ah, I misread.

Alt + Command + G should do the trick (Go to Path)

They come with their original creation date, as they should be : files synchronized across several machines must have the same metadata on all machines. And in Gnome, it just works (they have the right date, and appear as new when they are newly synchronised, even if their timestamp is epoch 0).

It seems the $30 headphones by the brand I use (soundcore) do offer noise canceling in the years since I last looked. Is it as good? Probably not. But I'm not going to spend $200 for slightly better earbuds.

Bad noise canceling is worthless. Good noise canciling is like magic. The airpods offer pretty good noise canceling.
