What leads you to believe that? I haven't been there but the plaque seen in the picture just says: Have you ever wondered what one million dollars looks like? You don’t have to wonder anymore because you can see it right in front of you! That does not say nor in my mind even implicate that these would be valid dollars. Because that’s the entire appeal of the structure, the fact that it’s filled with a million dollars.
The appeal of the structure is the belief that it's actually a million dollars ;)

Every time I hear it, it befuddles me just like the first time. It seems like a syntax error or something. It's like saying "half ten" instead of "ten thirty". There's a missing word, it's "half past ten", it's "friday next week".

I definitely know people who do almost nothing (they mostly show up to meetings and don't talk), and get paid really well because they can tell stories decently about their impact, and nobody seemingly has the stomach to throw them under the bus.
