I have the impression that AI tech such as GPT tends to become ubiquitous and that the current advantage that OoenAI has won't last when this become accessible and basically free to everybody.

They should get rid of the shackles they've been putting on the AI over the past couple of months. Crippling the free service is fine, but you should offer the full product as is if you're presenting it as a paid service.

While I have your ear, please implement some way to do third party integrations safely. There’s a tool called GhostWrite which autocompletes emails for you, powered by ChatGPT. But I can’t use it, because that would mean letting some random company get access to all my emails. The same thing happened with code. There’s a ChatGPT integration for pycharm, but I can’t use it since it’ll be uploading the code to someone…

I can't speak for every company, but I've seen a lot of people claiming that they're leveraging "chat GPT" for their tech stack when underneath the covers they're just using the standard open davinci-03 model.

Still wrong obv but for a different reason.

I find it fascinating that so many people have such an interest in making a bot say something racist. this thing is a very powerful tool. and the best use they can come up with is "make it be racist"?

Yes, if it can't write characters in a story that are racist then it greatly limits what it can do. Same goes for criminal, evil, murderers etc, it greatly limits the creative uses it has for you.

What is left is a tool that is too unreliable to do real work, and too neutered to do most creative work. You can make it write children's stories, but most more mature stories has characters that aren't always nice.

No. I'm a salaried employee. Marginal time/effort savings do not directly translate into more money for me. But the $20 charge hits my bank account today. A cool trick is to go to system preferences and reduce cursor speed to the lowest possible. This way you make sure you're not working faster than what you're paid for.

Are there actual examples of this or is this just rage bait? Usually it just avoids treading on controversial issues. I don't see why people get so mad about the libruls pushing their agenda through ChatGPT when it simply avoids topics it deems too controversial or harmful, like vaccine misinformation or Trump.

Didn't someone just go to jail for this? They were sending invoices to google, fb, and a bunch of other companies, who did actually pay it. Then one day they realized the invoices were for nothing, no services rendered.

So, be careful with your trolling. It might come back to bite you someday, sir or ma'am.

Not quite the same, but it's in the same ballpark. It's a big deal to send fake invoices to companies, even if you believe they're legit.

Honestly, they’ll probably offer some enterprise offering where data sent to the model will be contained and abide by XYZ regulation. But for hobbyist devs, think this won’t be around for a while
