the real problem you seem to be describing is a lack of faith or trust in the institutions, rather than the silence. if we had faith and/or trust in institution X, Y or Z then the silence wouldn’t be a problem. in my experience; speculation fuels distrust, which fuels more speculation, which leads to a spiral. similar thing as gossip. why would i trust you when you’ve been gossiping with me about our mutual friend? t…

Omitting truth also has consequences, hence the speculation.

yeah, but you and i can't do much about what some institution is doing on a daily basis. we can, however, do a lot more about what we're doing on a daily basis -- i.e. not engaging with or spreading speculative bullshit / FUD.

there's enough bullshit for people to deal with in the world. why add to it?

Really depends on how you define "cure". What most people cannot comprehend, for some very bizarre reason, is that many chronic problems do not have one-time solutions. They require chronic solutions. Take alcoholism. The "cure" for alcoholism is never drinking. You never stop being an alcoholic, you can only manage it by not drinking. Take obesity. Obesity has no "cure" either in that sense. The "cure" for obesity i…

I would caveat by saying today. Today we don’t know how to cure alcoholism or gambling, but nothing is there to say we won’t. As for obesity, there is GLP-1 that is a likely cure and will perhaps eventually lead to an in-body cure.

The rates of sudden blindness have doubled as a result of the massive rise in the numbers of people who are taking GLP-1.

Sudden blindness on one or both eyes. No warning, no symptoms, wake up with damaged eyesight up to and including blindness.

For most people who are overweight or obese it’s been something they’ve been able to live with.

Waking up blind would be catastrophic.

These drugs should be taken off the market.

The extraordinary claim is that talking to a ‘counsellor’ or ‘psychologist’ has any net positive benefits that are measurable in any way.

The extraordinary claim at issue is YOURS: > News just in: talking about your mental health, especially for men, does not improve your mental health. > For the majority of men, most of the time.

One thing talking to a therapist has a proven ability to do is fatten their purse at your expense.

There are no measurable benefits better than placebo.

News just in: talking about your mental health, especially for men, does not improve your mental health. For the majority of men, most of the time. If it did, shouldn’t we see mental health improving by now?

My brother is a retired vet. Without talk therapy he'd be dead or in prison by now.

You can’t know that.

His life isn’t a double-blind randomised placebo controlled study.

There is no second instance of him to falsify your claim.

What if they choose to kill a person who was a civilian until they were drafted into the enemy army the day before? What if the civilian they kill has a substantial effect on the enemy's military capabilities, for example by being someone famous who loudly endorses the honour of signing up to fight for one's country, thereby motivating thousands of young men to do just that?

What if killing a soldier’s children might make him lose his resolve or act erratically? What if destroying an entire city full of millions of civilians might make the enemy lose hope and surrender? What if poisoning the land and water for decades could prevent the enemy from reconstituting itself? What if killing all the women could prevent the production of future soldiers? Once you open the door, where do you draw…

I interpret your examples as further evidence (in addition to the examples I gave) that there is no sensible justification for distinguishing military from civilian casualties. Was that your intention?

Still no evidence or other support for these claims = bad faith.

Look, I know you'll accuse me of being a soviet stooge and all that, and that you value your time as purple team nato guy immensely. THis is not about whataboutism. I'm just pointing out that if you make big claims like (emphasis mine) """There's lots of people working for NATO and federal agencies in Europe that have been assassinated by the luckystrike branch of the FSB. The name comes from the Telegram account wit…

While I agree with the premise of your argument, I don't think this is the correct platform to do so. And I also have to state a fun fact: I'm not a journalist. If you expect more founded research put together into an investigative report, you have to pay someone to do so, one way or the other. Well, or do it yourself. Investigative journalism has been dead before the peak of AI, which makes the game of deception eve…

I have to say that just like the poster you are replying to, I am inclined to believe what you are saying because of Russia's past actions, and this modus operandi you described being successful elsewhere

However, he is right that I would want a bit more information about the multiple assassinations in NATO part, because I want to believe we are not there yet, and that this would have implications, even in today's Europe

Of course there is, but what difficulties can you possibly have finding it? Part of the problem with events like these is people's "incredulity", which is fundamentally rooted in them not being force-fed with the topic by the media despite the importance . The other way around, while people baselessly believe to be told everything of importance by their news-feed, in reality they are entirely being left in the dark a…

I want to read your original claim but it was censored. I am aware of the IC community being active on these forums and using algorithm/actors to downvote and hide information. Would you share it again here or send it via DM? Sorry you’ve had to face this.

> One of the dead was Technical Sergeant Kevin Stallings, a digital network intelligence analyst whose family told Bloomberg they wanted him to be identified to bring greater attention to the suicides. Stallings was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland, Cyber Command’s headquarters. He took his own life the month before he’d have turned 37.

These people aren't "drone operators", they worked for USCYBERCOM, which does "hacker stuff".

The narrative peddled here repeatedly, the statistics were "completely normal" is egregiously wrong.

The concentration of deaths is entirely implausibly described as "suicides", while the far more likely explanation is "housecleaning": murdering potential whistleblowers.

This isn't an argument. But, to dig deeper: I think it will feel negative at first because, obviously, addressing negative emotions is a negative experience. But introspection is really about knowledge. Being ignorant to yourself, of all things, does not breed positivity, it breeds masking, deception, and self-destruction. A lot of men, and women too, have horribly self-destructive tendencies. For many men, their big…

This is all complete and utter rubbish. If you talk to any man who’s overcome adversity, they’ll straight up tell you they didn’t do any of this nonsense.

This has not been my experience, at all.

I like how the “Chinese propaganda” against datacenters was found to be mostly a collection of facts. While Russian propaganda is more clumsy and emotional, we’ve produced such an unequal society with such low regular education and outright corruption that people fall for it. That says something negative about US, not them. If we admit our system cant even survive an open internet, it should be dismantled or reformed…

I like how the “Chinese propaganda” against datacenters was found to be mostly a collection of facts. That's not my understanding. Got any credible links that back up this point?

Sure, NPR went over this:

https://www.npr.org/2026/06/10/nx-s1-5844328/us-china-data-c...

—- quote section below

Linvill said he can't rule out that the Chinese are quietly paying influencers or others to oppose data centers, but he pointed out there's no need.

"I think in this case, the people talking about data centers are real people with real passions and real perspectives and real opinions."

In Utah, those people appear to have forced Kevin O'Leary to scale back his plans. After the president of the Utah Senate raised concerns, he agreed to shrink his data center project to a quarter of its original size.

—— End NPR article quote

So yeah, no need to produce Chinese anti-datacenter propaganda - people have valid reasons, and they hate it. It’s already blocking and scaling back projects.
