I still have 94% of my battery health left on my 2020 M1, and I have all the speed I need as a casual, avergae user.
Crazy good. I only have 87% on mine and I think I got it in 2022 (M1 though)... I wonder if it's because I leave it plugged in so much.

The app switching behaviour is really infuriating. Selecting a window and having all the app’s windows come to the fore, obscuring the window from another app is still annoying, 20 years on. And then when you full-screen a window, switch to another app for a moment, and then you can’t find it without delving into the ‘window‘ menu. First world problems. But daily annoyances.
You need to use CMD + ` instead of CMD + Tab
Unless you mean to find the full-screen window. And that doesn't work either. At least for Zed, Firefox and iTerm, where I spend most of my life.

Apple really doesn't tell power-users about a lot of these features. You can really gain a lot by searching for Mac shortcuts and tricks. I still learn new things that have been around for over a decade.
Another tip: lots of useful characters are only an option press away. You can find them by viewing your keyboard [1], which is easy if you have you input source on your dock. How much would you charge me to swap out my MacBook Pro 2018 15.4" battery using authorized methods to not cause other damage? I want my laptop back within a few days, a 90 day warranty on parts and labor, and I want a genuine Apple battery - not some unknown 3rd party.

How did we already get to no-one being impressed by 20% better PER YEAR already. Macs barely got faster for ages with Intel - they just got hotter and shorter on battery life. 20% per year is a doubling every 4y. That is awesome.
It is only 20% at certain tasks, not all around and depends on what the specific bottlenecks are for a given workflow. Stop using "full screen mode", with recent macOS you can just drag the window to the top of the screen and let it "snap" to fit the entire screen. This is different from "full screen mode" which is largely useless. What you want is that the app window fills the screen space, not that it takes over the entire screen

What magic are you and everyone else doing ? I already have only 92% on my less than year old M4 14inch Pro. I haven't booted up the older M1 recently to check, but I remember it was throwing replace battery warnings well before I got the upgrade and that I think that triggering below 80%.
Yes if it hits 79%, you can swap it under AppleCare+ at the Apple Store. My MBP M1 Max is on the second replacement and still great! I use Al Dente to further optimize battery and calibrate it now and then
I didn't have a spare laptop to work with at that time for a week so i held of[1]. This is probably a reason for lot of people opting out of upgrades.
After the M4 came there was hype for the new screen which performs better in sunlight and M1->M4 seemed worth it plus vRAM which is certainly handy.
[1]The screen was also deteriorating - no physical issues just wasn't as bright as it was new) and they said I should replace that too. The economics a new Air worth of money on a older laptop with just 1-2 years primary use life left is shaky.

1. I have 90 % on my m1 pro, bought in 2020 [1] 2. Batteries age faster in the beginning and then their ageing rate plateaus. It's the same for electric cars. E.g. a Tesla can lose 5% efficiency in the first 30k miles, but will lose the next 5% over 60k+. https://i.imgur.com/ohRFtoO.png
The only time battery is not a problem is when video streaming for hours, presumably the decoding is offloaded to the dedicated media chips on the board.
