Could you share if FileVault was active when this happened to you? I believe the disk is supposed to remain encrypted before you log in, so I can't see how this would have happened on a reboot (or update install) without FileVault being off.

at least it, fixed it. of couse it's just a duck tape fix, but well. at least it works.

Which version? For me 90.0 shows the "Please wait" message which some JavaScript or something is supposed to replace, and 93.0 force downloads it, even when I try to open it from a local file.

As of Firefox 93.0

Macbook Pro 2020 13-inch doesn't turn on after this actions:

1) Downloaded Monterey update. In the end appeared error message that some package with strange name can't be unpacked

2) Downloaded Big Sur 1.16.1 update, because information about Monterey disappeared and there were not any button to install new OS.

3) System was automatically rebooted after 2), started update screen in few minutes and macbook completely turned off with no signs of power.

Resseting SMC, NVRAM didn't help. Battery was 73% when started updates.

FileVault was inactive at the time I recorded that, though I still don’t expect this behaviour regardless of file system encryption.

How does it fare in price/performance? I'd wager that's what will matter more than performance/watt to 90% of customers.

90% of customers only need MacBook airs, which have been at the top of price/performance for a decade.
