I was the same way (I suppose I still am since I never deleted the partition), scoop + tailored pwsh profile + 'debloat' tweaks etc. I never really understood any of the popular complaints about Windows/W11 since I always reign my install in. There is no argument, just vague gesturing toward the grass. I recognized myself in your post.

Fair enough. I am not against Linux at all, but work does mandate Windows (or OSX but...) and Windows for gaming is still a must imo due to anti-cheat and my Steam library is massive. Gamepass is not a bad deal too.

They took a real punch to the gut when File Pilot rolled out and showed them what their own devs should have been doing.

File pilot seems to use an immediate mode UI to be responsive and uses 10% cpu even when idle or minimized. I'm not sure that's worth it.

I've been watching Linux from a safe distance for 25+ years. The one thing that remains constant over the decades is that whenever someone says "You're having this problem? Well what did you expect, you're using X distro. Obviously you should use Y distro, then all your problems will be solved" and then another person comes along and says "No, you idiot, Y distro is completely broken, any sane person would use Z dist…

It's always the exact same distro, and it has been for 10+ years. Nobody is recommending it anymore but users still come with issues due to that. There are different distros for different taste/needs, but Ubuntu always has been the worst choice of all.

That's funny, because half of what I remember reading about Linux is people writing "Forget all these other distros, just go with Ubuntu, it just works!"

This is a choice for you! I'm a pretty heavy PC gamer and whilst I've run Linux since I was in college (UK college, not US) I've always had a Windows install for gaming. A few years ago, I finally decided I'd had it with Windows and their crap and uninstalled it. If I game doesn't run on Linux, I don't play it. Simple as that. I'm lucky in that a majority of games I play run fine on Linux, the only real game I'd love…

Gaming on Linux works pretty good now. Setup is easy thanks to Steam and other launchers (e.g. heroiclauncher).

Sure, for many games Riot games / others with kernal level anticheats dont support linux sadly

linux makes user god. windows makes anticheat god. apparently riot wants their anticheat to remain god. so no linux. sad gamer.
