Meanwhile in real life IG and TikTok ads are the only ones normal people seem to generally trust. I've only ever heard people talking about getting Instagram or TikTok ads for things and actually buying them in a way that would sound genuinely jarring if they said "an ad on Google." I think there's something to be said for how IG and TikTok ads are actually made that makes them more appealing which is that they actua…
My IG ads are so extremely personalized with every detail of my life it's both extremely creepy because I volunteered none of this data, and very useful because they are showing me things I might want to buy.

Visiting friends/family sometimes I have to ask for the TV to be turned off so we can talk and visit. Not to make some sort of statement or signal my dislike for the content, but to stop having my attention grabbed over and over for useless dribble/ads. They do not understand how horribly distracting it is to someone who isn't numbed to its omnipresence.
I haven't had broadcast tv for decades. I already had to ask my friend to mute commercials to help me follow conversation after a couple of years (he just tuned them out). I concluded that I would hate the company I worked for because of their intrusive ads while visiting family during the holidays a year after that. My partner still objects to how angry I get when an ad is shoved into our on-demand content, but that…

I agree that Arcade is poor. However, I’ve been subscribed to it since its inception because it is the best way to have games that my kid can play without shady ads or engagement practices. I know that is not going to last, as my kid is now a pre-teen and likes other types of games (like Hollow Knight) that are not available on Apple Arcade. But the current state of the gaming industry is terrible, especially on mobi…
I like Apple Arcade because it has non-shittified versions of classic games Like Angry Birds, the official version is fucked up to the gills with ads

What? I’ve never seen a single commercial on an Apple TV+ show.
Something like 70% of the comments I've seen on this thread show that either: 1) The user has never owned an Apple Device in their life. 2) They are trolling super hard. There are complaints to be had that I definitely agree with, however, I see a TON of fiction for every single legitimate complaint. No, not an Apple employee, shareholder, etc. (I am broke and dependent on my wife because I am disabled lol)

No there is another way. We can ban advertising completely.
How else do you make your product known? In many markets, there are just too many competitors, and so the only way to make any money at all is to advertise. I also hate ads, but I also think there is a better way, and better regulation would go a long way to making ads more bearable.
This ought to be a signal that the market is already being served, that it is unlikely to be a big opportunity to make more money.
Even with advertising, what you have in such a market is an all-pay auction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-pay_auction
The end point is nobody makes any profit on apps, because all the money that ought to be profit goes to paying for a bidding war on ad slots.
