Advanced electronics manufacturing never left the US. The problem is that all the consumer-grade stuff left, and what's left is all really high-end military stuff, and is stupidly expensive. We’re not military, but I hear what you’re saying. Generally when I look at the costs of doing stuff onshore vs offshore it’s typically ~2x more expensive to do it here. That blows out any ambitions of competing purely on price pretty quickly for most types of product.

Yes, they do. Here in Japan, everyone is covered by either government insurance, or private insurance that's partially paid by their employer. Sound familiar? Germany's system is similar. These are not single-payer systems.

I might have done a bit of hyperbole to get the point across, true. But by my understanding, when you are in a war and see the enemy, but cannot shoot at them, then you are effectivly out of ammunition by my definition. Even though sure, more precise would have been, very low on ammo.

Having met a bunch of YC companies now, I wouldn't say the Ivies are exactly under-represented but it always seems like there's more Stanford than UPenn and more UWaterloo than Cornell. If school means anything it's the quality of their CS programs. Don't let your school hold you back from applying :)

Is UPenn particularly good? It’s the first time I hear about it in these discussions. Stanford on the other hand, I always hear about (isn’t that where Page and Brin were at?)

I think GP is saying that YC founders tend to be more techy, entrepreneurial types than Wharton MBA types. I'm not sure though, there's a lot left to the imagination.

Every human is motivated by the same human desires, from thousands of years ago to now. Race is meaningless, we are all human. So why are some countries decrepit basket cases while others are successful?

The answer is government, laws, and culture. The governments of Argentina (until things got so bad they elected a self-described anarcho capitalist libertarian!), Venezuela, Cuba, Lebanon, etc. have created terrible environments for their citizens. Crypto is allowing their citizens to break laws that are hurting them. I support the citizens fighting against their socialist and communist governments that are robbing them. That's the core function of empowering citizens with decentralized money.

Excludable = you can exclude people from benefiting from it. (E.g., Fixing global warming is not excludable while temperature control in your own house is.) Rivalrous = more people getting it leads to less for others. (E.g., Software is not rivalrous, but hardware is.)

I wanted a rephrased statement, not a dictionary extract. Because I still have no clue what your piont is.

Right, but making statements that are plainly and objectively false (simply for alarmist effect) doesn't help make that happen.

I was in trench few km from Avdiїvka for 2 weeks few days ago, and I can confirm that our artillery is out of ammunition. The silence of our artillery was horrible to listen. When we cannot use our drones because of fog, heavy snow, or strong wind, Russians are advancing because we have no shells enough to fire at them.

In Ukraine, hundreds of small teams are working on new drones or other military tech, like radars, camouflage, shelters, demining, etc., but they are low on money.

I personally have some ideas based on my own experience in war, but I cannot make them while in a trench.
