Don't know what EDC means. But my backpack for commuting has almost always:
- bike lights (it gets dark early in winters)
- rain pants than can we wore over normal pants (in case it rains)
- some coins
- some Bonbons that are good for the throat
- still a COVID mask (too lazy to throw it away)
- a roller pen
- strangely I found a patch fo a fever blisters and a anti head ache pill
- a adapter from micro USB to USB so I can connect my yubikey to my phone. Turns out the microusb is so mangled already that it is only good for charging and not for data transfer so the yubikey does not work with the phone. Also ok.
- a small plastic bag (in case I come somewhere nice where garbage is lying around or where wild berries are found (or people selling berries or mushrooms on the side of the road)
- on weekdays a work notebook and headphones

#53If I'm not going somewhere longer than overnight, just these in my pockets:
- Key chain with capsule containing earplugs
- Wallet
- Phone
- laptop
- charger
- a few USB cables and adapters
- cheapie pen
- a few sheets of paper
- 3-4 days of clothing
- small battery pack
- mini toiletries bag
- electric shaver
- umbrella
- raincoat
- hat
- sweater
- light or heavy jacket depending on time of year
- possibly a flashlight depending on where I'm going, but that's rare

I own both sizes and have found it challenging to go back to the 14" after getting used to the 16" screen size and battery life. I'd urge you to test out a 14" and see how it goes.

I'm sadly constrained by what my job will issue me to work on here. I used to have the 13", and was happy with it.
When I'm at home I do all my work on an external monitor anyway, so I don't think of the screen size as being super-relevant to my daily life. It comes up if I travel for work or work from a coffee shop, but my experience suggests that the smaller screen is fine there for me.

#59Not contents, but I recommend an internal frame daypack. I got one made by Osprey. I find that it greatly reduces discomfort caused by oddly shaped items or heavier loads.
Osprey makes great stuff. Pretty much the only thing I'd buy any more.
