Absolutely not. If it was just an accent, I'd like back all those times my father couldn't help with my Spanish homework.
It’s like how Portuguese is just a Spanish with a heavy accent. And Italian is just accented Latin. There are recognizable words but the meanings are entirely different - English between America and Australia used to be this way (we since have crushed Australia with Hollywood so hard that it’s now closer enough).
They have similar roots, but dismissing entire languages and cultures in this way is super disrespectful
