I have a mobile phone that I bought for 10 bucks, and it doesn't have an alarm clock. Thanks to this awesome website, I get a phone call every morning at 7am. The great thing is, If I switch to a new phone, I'll not need to set my alarm clock again.

This is great. I think ifttt would be turned to a next generation marketplace for web apps. It has a huge potential.

Why didn't you ask Linden when he was in the office?

I was on the phone and he only had a minute, so what would've have been a perfect alignment of planets turned into a near miss.

Happy to chat further, but would love to focus the next year on building something others can hook into to get their own channels out there.

Just emailed you. I think NewsBlur would be a valuable enough immediate addition that it would be worthwhile. I know I have plenty of demand on my side.

Ifttt is awesome! I was wondering if there is a similar app for mobile devices that I can create rules like "if I am at home (judging by WiFi) then ..." or "if the battery falls below 20% then turn off BT"?

Tasker does this: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/

+1 for Tasker.

And to Locale above, Tasker actually has support for Locale. The things you can do with those two apps combined is absurdly awesome.

Yeah, I had no problem with the other junk. But a "Whoops, we accidentally deleted all your stuff" in dropbox or gmail would be a tad devastating.

Wow, can 3rd-party services actually delete all your data if they wanted to? It's not just read-only access?

Some of ifttt's Dropbox actions involve doing things like saving an image to your Dropbox, which would be hard with read-only access...

It's a real bummer to see perfectly capable companies with enough traction taking funding.

Why? Maybe they just need some cash to actually draw a basic salary (you know, to pay the bills)... Or maybe they need more resources to build even better things.

Ifttt is an extremely well-designed and useful service. I look forward to the day they get a business model so I can rely on it

Yes, I "use" IFTTT regularly, but I barely ever use the website.

If I had to guess on a business model, maybe adding ads to the notifications?

What do you mean by pinboard model?

You pay once to sign up, this fee increases with the ammount of users.

lol thanks, I'm so tired that I read (and then typed) pinboard as Pinterest. heh
