Sadly most news has become a newsfeed. CNN, Fox, etc are all newsfeeds-breaking news! new update! new notification! here are some pundits talking about it.
The reality is we need news-we don't need a 24/7 news cycle.

It undermines democracy and prevents you from addressing problems in society where you could make a difference. There are plenty of people undermining democracy while being well aware of what's happening around them. Moot point.
