Diversity, I think, is really important. Diversity of thought as well as all the other kinds of diversity. It's important to be able to work with people who come from different backgrounds, who have different beliefs. I see this on both sides (I see it more often on the left, but that's just because my filter bubble is a somewhat leftish one.. when I step out of that bubble, I see plenty examples of people on the right doing the same thing.) and it's... pretty terrible, I think, and especially on the left extremely hypocritical.

Firefox overcame that disadvantage about 10 years ago. You could say Chrome did too (though nowadays Chrome is bundled so much it no longer applies).

I loathe Eich as a human being, and was very glad to see him ousted from a leadership position at Mozilla. However, this conversation is about a new company he created, where employees are free to make decisions about whether to join it fully cognizant of any personal issues Eich has with them, unlike the Mozilla position where a homophobe was placed in a position of power above existing employees. While it's fair to bring up Eich's homophobia and discuss how it might impact this project or its future employment prospects, I don't think it's in good taste to claim the product is crap because he's a homophobe or especially because he's older than you are.

1) Desktop browser is an electron app with ad tracking injected into your app via http://cdn.brave.com/ (via https://sonobi.com/welcome/index.php which promises "EFFECTIVELY PLAN AND SOURCE MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES WITH QUALITY AND VIEWABILITY FROM PREMIUM PUBLISHERS"

JavaScript engines have to run untrusted code from the web 24/7. They're some of the most secured software in existance.

I believe they're using a javascript plugin that mimics the native smooth scrolling on OS X. And if you're on OS X, the native smooth scrolling conflicts with the plugin and you get that awful janky scrolling.

Eich was a co-founder of Mozilla, as mentioned in most articles about Brave. So he had a leadership position all along and didn't get the CEO position out of nowhere, and was CTO for the longest time. This whole argument doesn't fly at all.

What browser/device are you using? It works fine for me on Chrome (both keyed and scroll wheel) and iOS (Safari).

Smooth scrolling plugins are vastly more offensive to me than most advertising.

I really wonder who thought adding lag to a primary browser interaction would make your pages better.
