And yet this is exactly how it was used for rsync which caused the outrage you're all complaining about. You're being dishonest with what you wrote when the proof is literally in this article.

its not an article, its a github issue. There is no proof, someone posted a screenshot of another person on twitter complaining about a vague bug they experienced. It's certainly not clear the maintainer used an llm in the way described (how would you know unless they told you?). Its not even clear what issues there are specifically, or whether they were caused by ai usage.

We are at the point where QA can fix bugs by describing the issue they are seeing. We are at the point where bugs can be fixed automatically by hooking up AI to crash reporting telemetry. Tulips can't fix bugs.

I think the other commenter's point is that there's no industry-wide proof that QA can fix bugs by just describing the issue. That's an anecdote. Why is it acceptable now to just follow anecdotes and FOMO?

Well in my professional setting, I deal with non-paying customers all the time. They're still customers and I'm still expected to listen to them. It was better when a dedicated PM was shielding me from this crap but here we are. Deciding who and who not to listen to is just part of project management.

I'd look again, there's a (now deleted, but quoted) comment of violence being threatened (and drawn??) against the maintainers.
