Wow, I wasn't aware Samsung, Intel, SMSC were unable to produce "modern technology." Not everything needs to be on a 3nm TSMC process, believe it or not.

I’m not a military expert, but I’ll bet my left nut that if push comes to shove Taiwan will go scorched earth and just blow up the chip factories

Which will put the whole world back for a decade while we rebuild the factories from scratch.

Apple and Sama didn't do the consumers any favors this year.

What did Apple do?

Grabbed up as much ram as they could, nearly no questions asked, at above market rates in some cases, ramping up the perceived demand and decreasing supply significantly.

The Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB is $55 on CanaKit, PiShop, Seeed Studio, and MicroCenter. The Raspberry Pi 3B 1GB is $35 on CanaKit, Adafruit. The 3B+ is on PiShop for $40. am I crazy for thinking that the 16GB Pi 5 is just there to absorb money from people who purchase the most expensive version of things? Like really nobody needs that much RAM on a Pi?

I bought a Pi 500+ (basically a 16gb Pi 5 in a keyboard with a built in NVME hat) to use as a family computer, otherwise I agree. Unless you're planning on using it as an actual desktop there's no real reason for that much ram

It’s an incredibly lopsided machine. The Pi 5 is decently powerful, but you really really should not be attempting to use one as a desktop replacement. While theoretically possible you are so much better off with a $50 used SFF PC.

I bought the pi 500+, it fit my requirement of being built into the keyboard
