Very few people have the genetics to support living past 100 regardless of lifestyle. In other words, lifestyle choices can help prevent premature death (and improve healthspan) but they can't extend maximum lifespan.

People who do live long and well, chose the right parents.

We have been trying since medicine existed. Granted we can see much further now thanks to modern knowledge and tools, but we still can't see far enough to identify the causes or even speculate about actual solutions to aging. For all our technology and medical knowledge, getting somebody to live past 100 is still 95% a mix of genetic lottery and the chance of not developing too serious of cancer until really late.

The vast majority of medical spending is on treatment of illness/problems and always has. Very little money is spent on actually understanding and figuring how to pause aging itself.

Ship of Theseus it. Slowly replace the brain bit-by-bit, taking breaks in between. For each component, use three in a democratic redundancy (for future maintenance).

I wouldn't personally do that unless I was already dying. But, I see no reason believe it wouldn't preserve the soul. Your organic brain is already doing it all the time on a small scale.

Tradeoffs aren't real. Your human brain expects them to be, but they aren't. Life isn't fair, and you can get all downsides with no upsides, or the other way around.

There is no Authority on Biology that says "if you want good X, you'll have to take bad Y to keep things fair for everyone". It's just hard to get "good X, good Y, good Z" at once, and nature never really tried. That's up to us then.

That little "cancer" metaphor of yours is a worthless fluff piece meant to make you feel better about dying a protracted, miserable death before you hit the age of 100.

Personally, I think we should be coping less, and doing more about the problems we're facing - of which aging is one.

When you say you’ll “never understand some people,” it sounds less like a statement about me and more like a limitation you’ve accepted for yourself. From a psychological perspective, that reads as defensiveness — dismissing what feels uncomfortable rather than trying to process it. It might be worth asking yourself why you feel the need to provoke instead of engage.

DNA is conditioned too, it’s not immutable. Parents hand us probabilities, not fixed outcomes.

Maybe you feel the need to equate everyone in order to feel better with your complicity, but it is simply not true. Every empire has committed atrocities, sure. Not every country or ethnic group though. Some have been historically non aggressive and grossly mistreated by greedy emperors, conquerors and politicians.

"Europe" has nothing to account for. Western Europe ? Sure.
