I don't want to look up the sources here and now (work policies) but it does, on occasion, happen.

Unfortunately the 2A community is filled with fud and hollywood-esque beliefs. Those who have little training or practical experience often fall victim to believing these fantastical "what-if" scenarios.

The amount of times a firearm has been taken out of someone's duty holster and used against them is a statistical rounding error. Most LEO departments require Level 3 Retention holsters, making this scenario nearly an impossibility. Additionally, a safety isn't going to save someone's life if the "bad guy" has wrestled control of the firearm away from the owner.

This entire scenario is fiction. Manual safeties often do more harm than good - which is why just about all modern handguns have no manual safety (outside of the few States which, out of ignorance, require them by law).

A G45 was my top pick if price were no object, but this is the worst job market in 20 years for SWEs. I’ve been out of work more often than not for the last 2 years (never taking more than a month to find something new for the previous 10 years).

Until that MN shooting spree, I always felt the risks of gun ownership were greater than the risk of home invasions. I am fortunate to live in an area where random violence is quite rare. But paramilitary-style murders and forced disappearances are a categorically different kind of threat. The statistical rarity doesn’t matter. What matters is taking one of the bastards with you to hell when they come for you. If you can’t save yourself, save the next person on their hitlist, and in doing so, save the world. Die on your feet instead of your knees. There are fates worse than death. Forced disappearance is certainly one of them.

Anyway, my LGS had a lightly-used P365XL with a bunch of accessories for half the price of any Glock. It was a no-brainer to me. Guns aren’t a “buy once cry once” kinda purchase. Seems hardly anyone has just one for very long.

TLDR: people buy other handguns because it’s a tool to them, not a hobby. At least, not yet.

If you have experience with firearms then you know that very few modern handguns have manual safeties.

I said I was experienced with firearms, not handguns. At the time I had extensive experience with assault rifles, heavy machine guns, light machine guns, bolt action rifles etc all of which had a safety.

Before the sig the British Army used the browning 9mm which also had a safety
