I don't know if they are woke but I think people vastly overestimate their efficacy and efficiency because they believe it means that they have correct opinions and are part of the group of "good people."

If anything, solar has demonstrated over the past 2 decades that it is a lot more effective and economical than even the most bullish of predictions that have been made about it. (Seriously, look at projections for solar deployment and generation vs what actually happened, it's kind of crazy how much it was underestimated)

In the energy section, they talk about using nuclear fusion to power AI... but not solar. What a joke.

The joke is my hometown that put acres of solar on prime farmland.

Solar is great for rooftops of houses, it’s not really great to run a DC 24/7 without batteries.

It's worth considering total lifecycle use of water (mining, production and operation) for nuclear and solar. Solar: ~300-800 L/MWh [0] Nuclear: ~3000 L/MWh [1] 0: https://iea-pvps.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Water_Footpr... 1: https://www-pub.iaea.org/MTCD/Publications/PDF/P1569_web.pdf

Water we have plenty of. We can desalinate as much as we need to

Yeah, but you need energy to desalinate so...

after the pandemic, i see the pattern everywhere. newsflash: it doesnt matter what you "plan". you wont do it. because you cant. it´s called state incapacity. you´re institutionally incapable. prediction: nothing will follow from this except the low effort stuff (i.e. nothing but speeches and expenses)

In Canada with a state broadcaster you can get credit from low information votes just by announcing a program without ever implementing or funding it. Pravda!

Landing page is mainly pictures of Trump from various angles and orders and media articles about this administration pushing for things that were lobbied by close allies of this convicted felon.

Not sure why would anyone pay any attention to what this administration says, when it can change in a very short time.

After winning the first cold war with a notable race to the moon, it feels now that the USA is doing everything to lose the second one with a race to the bottom. As a non American, I just hope they don't take too long to reach it. While I'm thankful for the positive influence that the USA had in the last century, lately I feel like they only have a negative one, notably by poisoning our societies with unregulated big…

> lately I feel like they only have a negative one, notably by poisoning our societies with unregulated big tech and social networks. do you feel like the censorship/regulation/big state mantra that european governments are fans of are also poisoning our societies? > Whatever comes next, I can only hope that this wave of AI generated falsehoods is the last straw. the AI wave is just beginning.

News headlines in 10 years will be like:

Europe seeks investments to catch up lost ground in AI

How Europe lost the AI race

Europe seeks to invest in AI sovereignty after US & China dominated the world
Basically a repeat on how EU lost the tech and space race, but with AI this time. They just don't learn.

Only weights that are not Woke according to what was stated. And reduce those weights on the neural net path to the Epstein files please.

How can this work with their main goal of assuring American superiority? If it’s open weights anyone else can use it too.

Can a model make so sophisticated propaganda or manipulation that most won’t notice it?

Most western news propaganda isnt especially sophisticated and even the internally inconsistent narratives it pushes still end up finding an echo on hacker news.

Please don't make me tap the "grade school biology is intentionally dumbed down because reality is complex" sign. There are countless ways someone can have a Y chromosome and still be a woman. There are countless ways someone can have no Y chromosome and still be a man. Hell there are even a small population of people who are born visibly female with female genitalia (as every human starts female before they (optiona…

Your intersex numbers are way off: https://statsforgender.org/it-is-not-true-that-1-7-of-the-po...

Wasn't that claim about people who had surgery (or a condition that is visible for which they usually intervened surgically) at birth instead of all intersex people?

I really don't think anyone considers the case of Kathleen to be intersex, seems more like a strawman.

I wonder how this intersects with their interest in "unbiased" models. Scare quotes because their concept of unbiased is scary.

"unbiased", in the world of realpolitik, means "biased in a manner to further my agenda and not yours".
