Beyond the stock market gambling aspect, what actually happened here? > revenue down 2% That means almost nothing, right? Some fluctuation must be expected. The Stock also looks like it really benefited from a Corona boost that is now cooling off. Can someone with more insight explain why everyone is screaming?

No one is screaming. Nike’s market cap is just being right-sized to reflect the lack of moat in the clothing/shoe business. Personally, Nike’s $54B vs Adidas’ $28B is still too high.

I know this does not really contribute to the discussion and I have nothing against you or what you've said, but man am I sick of reading the word moat in this context.

i think one can be in Sketchers but who is into Sketchers?

My mom. She is at that age when tying your shoelaces becomes difficult. The human body really was never supposed to go over 50 but modern medicine finds a way.

Hunter-gatherers who survived to adulthood (and childbirth!) could expect to live to their mid 60's to early 70's. The big wins that modern medicine have gotten us are drastically decreasing infant/child mortality and deaths during childbirth. Compared to our ancestors, we've only really added 5-10 years to the life expectancy of elderly life. Largely unrelated to modern medicine, deaths by misadventure are reduced living in civilization, and then even moreso when you've got a large portion of the population not working in dangerous manual labor roles.

Hoka blew up in the running space, like, ten+ years ago. The first Cliftons were pretty novel for being extremely plush. Light-ish weight maxi shoes weren't really a thing before Hoka popularized them. Now every running shoe brand offers something in that space. More recently I think they've been adopted by the "active retiree" crowd? They're nice to walk in. (I owned some of the original Cliftons myself. Did not lov…

Yes, for running mountain centuries and ultras. Karl "Speedgoat" Meltzer broke the Appalachian Trail record in them, and whoever was doing marketing then really blew a big bubble with that result. Trad brands didn't stand a chance against that sole and backstory. https://thewalkahead.com/2016/09/21/karl-meltzer-crushes-at-... https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-gear/run/clown-shoe-th...

Just running in general. Not only ultras.
