The closest thing "the right" has to an instruction book is Project 2025, and they've made a lot of progress in enacting their goals right under our noses. The constant distraction, misdirection, and seeming insanity is a feature, not a bug. We can't "heal" because _they don't want to heal_. They want to see their agenda to completion, which includes total domination and expulsion/extermination of their opponents, who they define.

More like, time for Apple TV boxes to replace Roku boxes. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but had no good reason. Now there is a good reason.

It's a much better experience anyway. I've had mine for a couple years and wondered why I didn't do it sooner.

People interested in jumping ship should consider a Google TV box (I have the onn. 4K from Walmart, I think I paid $40). In app-only mode (accessible deep in the settings,) there is only one advertisement on the homescreen, and it's quite responsive. Install apps such as Plex, Stremio, etc. without hassle. Programmable buttons on the remote, controls my Denon receiver just fine, very few complaints. Just my 2c.

I'm sure it will work fine until they abandon it in a year or two, like the preceding platform, and the one before that, and the one before that.

The US really is just allowing all sorts of horizontal and vertical mergers. There is enough economic theory to suggest this is a net negative for consumers. We are powering through it anyway.

I’ve had one for maybe 4 and mine has always been pretty buggy and unreliable. Restarts aren’t uncommon.

fwiw, I've had mine about that long and haven't had any restarts but for software upgrades.

Or you buy a non-scammy Onn stick for $20-$30 from Walmart instead, install a launcher like Projectivy/ATV Launcher Pro from Play Store (or Aurora/F-Droid), and either choose your streaming app subscriptions ... or remove them all and install Stremio/Kodi/Plex/Jellyfin etc for your own preferred "alternative" streaming sources via Usenet/Debrid/Torrents/etc.

My comment wasn’t purchasing advice, but just for argument’s sake, your alternative is much more work for the average user.
