We're fine with not catching up to the likes of facebook, openai et al while maintaining very livable wages with actual work life balance & no need to toil ourselves away to have things as basic as health insurance.

In the energy section, they talk about using nuclear fusion to power AI... but not solar. What a joke.

How much land mass would need to be covered by solar panels to power this future AI infrastructure. Yes, I'm implying that solar would be impractical, but I'm also genuinely curious.

Probably zero agricultural if you mandate all rooftops to be solar. And all parking lots to be covered with solar roofs.

Don't forget the sky-high taxes and energy costs as EU is quickly regulating itself into lower quality of life

How can this work with their main goal of assuring American superiority? If it’s open weights anyone else can use it too.

Can a model make so sophisticated propaganda or manipulation that most won’t notice it?

Well just look at the existing propaganda machines online and how annoyingly effective they are

And so it begins. Both the US president and the president of China have demonstrated they see AI as a competition between their respective countries. This will be an interesting ride, if nothing else.

Gotta get Allied Mastercomputer going.

After winning the first cold war with a notable race to the moon, it feels now that the USA is doing everything to lose the second one with a race to the bottom. As a non American, I just hope they don't take too long to reach it. While I'm thankful for the positive influence that the USA had in the last century, lately I feel like they only have a negative one, notably by poisoning our societies with unregulated big…

As a European, I still liked them helping out Ukraine

Please define "neo-Marxist philosophy". As an actual Marxist, I would love to hear of this strain of philosophy.

Marxism equipped with “critical theories”, typically focused on tribal grievance narratives rather than class struggle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Marxism That answers your sibling reply as well, as it’s clear where such “critical theories” and grievance narratives have entered movies and games.

That is not a definition. What is the philosophical framework? What is critically analyzed by those theories? What is "clear"? Where are all the bad bad Marxists hiding?

In my experience, y'know, as a Marxist, all Hollywood has ever pumped out is pro-capitalist propaganda. To say there's any Marxism in it is downright insulting.

I believe that Marxism has become an abstract target for conservatives to project their grievances on.

Zizek also spoke to this at his debate with Peterson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDOSOQLLO-U

>this won't work as effective here as in China, not even close, because the US is not authoritarian enough to mobilize every level of the govt and the economy by just empty propaganda slogans. Have you been under a rock for the last 6 months as Trump tells Xi Jinping to hold his beer??

Comparing Trump to Xi Jinping is an unfunny joke. Americans have lost the plot on what true authoritarianism really looks like. America has no chance vs China in the AI race precisely because the President of the CCP has far more power in his country than the President of the US. Its not even close.

Since when did power mean innovation?

> Encourage Open-Source and Open-Weight AI It's good to see this, especially since they acknowledge that open weights is not equal to open source.

How can this work with their main goal of assuring American superiority? If it’s open weights anyone else can use it too.

They see people using DeepSeek open weights and are like "huh, that could encode the model creators' values in everything they do".

do you feel like the censorship/regulation/big state mantra that european governments are fans of are also poisoning our societies?

the AI wave is just beginning.
