AMD is big in Israel as well. Most of the tech stuff is developed in Israel, side effects of future-oriented democracy I imagine. Boycotting things is useless virtue signalling of the woke disease. I would suggest going to pro-Palestinian protests and try to explain to them that raping, kidnapping and mutilating children is not going to bring peace and a country to Palestinians.

I didn't realize HN served multiple alternate realities. Over here where I'm looking from, by far the largest boycotts of the last 8 years have been from conservatives who were upset by events like trans people being featured in ads and the existence of gay people in movies/tv shows.

Don’t be naive. You missed the entire point of what I highlighted and looking for “dividends and buybacks” as your signal will lead you nowhere. CEOs not focused on product vision who focus on “company growth” as a vague vision are what lead to Intel, GE, etc. There is no greedy raiding of the coffers like your caricature implies in this scenarios.

Cool, keep on pretending the only people that destroy companies are focused on financials.

My point is that visionaries can drive everything into the ground and people like you will ride the ship down with support not realizing the negligence at play.

I’m here saying, “fires are not the only thing that destroy homes, floods wreck way more” and you’re digging in with evidence of fires.

That article is looking at things focused on financials, but intel did not fuck up on underinvestment. They invested in cutting edge stuff like uv lithography that now others are reaping the benefits on.

I've heard the reason AMD bought ATI instead of Nvidia is Jensen wanted to be CEO of the combined company for it to go through. I actually AMD would be better off it they had taken that deal. Prior to the ATI acquisition nvidia actually had been the motherboard chipset manufacturer of choice for AMD cpus for a number of years.

ISTR there was sort of a love-hate relationship with a lot of nVidia chipsets.

nVidia always had the trump card of saying "if you want SLI, you have to buy our chipset." But conversely, a lot of the options weren't great. VIA tended to alternate between decent and incompetent chipsets, SIS was mostly limited to the bottom of the market, and ATI's chipsets were very rare.

ARM has always beaten the crap out of Intel at performance per watt, which turned out to be extremely important both in mobile and data center scale.

They didn’t just fail to develop a mobile processor, they laughed and said no when Apple came knocking got the iPhone 1 and so Apple went to Motorola.

So much of Intels decline reeks of arrogant MBAs.
