> 2.3.5 Straight Line > Use a ruler. Somehow, in spite of noting the unusual physicality of this approach, I was profoundly unprepared to see a physical ruler being used on a touchscreen. Nice.

What was your reaction to the CD then?

After the ruler that's less jarring. Although the fact that it's an XP disc is hilarious.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Also her screen is running Doom, which wasn’t out when Jurassic Park was released (1989).

I know I'm probably missing a joke, but Jurassic Park came out in 1993. Still, Doom was released after the movie, so unlikely it would be in Jurassic Park.

I don't know about the film, but the Jurassic Park novel is set in 1989.

I cannot help but feel like these drawing methods are more hassle than carrying around an actual sketchbook and a few pens/pencils. Whatever makes you happy, I guess; at least you're not typing shit into an image generator and saying this makes you a great artist.

Deeply disappointed to read it doesn't work for iconoclasts.

Or atheists for that matter. I was a bit put off by the implied hostility there, even if it was in jest. It's a risky choice to jokingly discriminate based on religion, ethnicity or political affiliation, mostly because such a joke is hard to distinguish from almost identical contexts where it isn't a joke.

Honestly, I don't take offense at the joke. There's a reason freedom of expression has some degree of protection in many countries, and it is so that people can slander each other's religion or lack of it with impunity. I mean, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be constitutionally protected if it were about football clubs' rivalries. So I slander God at every opportunity I get, while actually being an atheist, because I find the given solutions to the problem of evil abominable and have mild objections to the morality of whoever swallows said solutions. Though I would never bar people of faith from using an operating system I contribute to; why in hell would I deprive them of a platform to read my slander?

the joke is that plan 9’s not UNIX, and thus does not run Jurassic Park. the absurdity arises from the fact that using such a capable operating system for dinosaur husbandry (im told this is what jurassic park is about) would be, frankly, philistine in nature.

So, falsehoods are jokes now? Hey guess what? I wrote xscreensaver ! Haha, funny joke, right, philistine? Hilarious! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philistinism

There's a church of iconoclasts? Are they always starting over?

But sketchbooks don't run 9front :(

Overall I feel like this is more of an advantage than a problem.
