My brother had a wav clip of Insomnia set as our startup sound on our Gateway 2000 computer back in 1995. I was 10. It was the beginning of my love of electronic music. RIP

Absolute bummer. For anyone unfamiliar, Faithless was a huge group in the electronica scene in the 90s and early 2000s. Some well known hits include "God is a DJ", "Insomnia", and "We Come 1". If you're young and don't know them, check them out. For us older folks, lots of early morning memories of better times. :)

I wouldn't say better. Definitely lighter and brighter. But also, at least for me, a lot more clueless, and with more unknown unknowns. Though maybe it depends on who feels old enough, as early mornings tend to be better nowadays :)

I saw Faithless back in '97 or '98.

It was a pretty small venue, held about 800 or so, but they had the place feeling like it was many times bigger.

Maxi Jazz stuck around at the end as people were leaving giving anyone who wanted one a high five - great era defining band, great MC, great human.

I suspect Insomnia or God Is A DJ was probably the first Faithless track I heard, but it was hearing the Reverence album that turned me into a die hard fan of Faithless and Maxi. I practically had it on repeat for months. I saw them live sometime in the early 2000s and it was amazing.

He just had a voice that I could listen to forever.

For people who don't have a Spotify account. You don't need an account for youtube Mass Destruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzgBD2wysuI God is a DJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhSB8EEnCAM Insomnia (Monster Mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuTNcjRdX4Q

Thanks. It drives me mad when people post Spotify links. Wish YouTube was the default choice for sharing music. I guess Spotify has enough market share that people don’t even think about using something else.

There is usually a higher chance of finding the song your looking for on Spotify. Bands rarely put their songs that don't have a video yet on youtube. Then you have to rely on somebody else to upload a stolen version of it and hope the quality isn't bat.

I don't open youtube links to songs anymore. Chances are that the person who's sending you the link, the same one who won't bother to pay $11 to listen to music in good quality, isn't sending you a link to the official bands/labels channel, and the song is in bad quality. When you get a spotify link, you know you get good quality and the artist gets paid for your listen.
