Embedded systems engineers are (usually) paid a lot less than full stack engineers. Edit: I seem to be getting (a lot!) of downvotes on this. I thought it was quite well known, but apparently not. Don't know why the downvotes either. Its not intuitive, but a sad fact of life and just the way supply and demand works.

I think it's very considerate to not add lead to a business card people may put in their pockets.
Lead is restricted because of what happens to it when PCBs are landfilled, not because it is harmful to touch.

#47Waw, I wasn't expecting the components to be that cheap. That said I haven't bought such components in a very long while.
I’ve had bad experiences with the allwinner chips (the boards I had years ago were very unstable) but the mainline kernel support is very exciting. That you can order a few phones built around them now too is just awesome.

My version of this would have a tiny LCD, buttons, and a Wi-Fi interface. I know all of those exist in incredibly inexpensive formats. Adds to todo list
