IMO the most egregious part is that all of these vapes come with perfectly good rechargable lithium batteries at a time where lithium is one of the most important resources. And they all just go into a landfill without ever being recharged once. It really should be criminal.

I have a (fire resistant) bag full of these batteries.

A hammer, a gentle swing, and some clippers are pretty much all you need to get the batteries out of these disposable vapes.

Vaping nicotine doesn't seem that bad to me. AFAICT the dangers outside simple addictiveness are moderate lung irritation and cardiovascular effects, but no strong evidence of cancer caused by vaping alone - far better than cigarettes, and still better than an equivalent drinking problem.

Amazingly, nicotine is one of the few things in tobacco smoke that isn't carcinogenic.

I have ported zForth to an even weaker chip, the famous 10c risc-v micro ch32v003 (16k flash, 2k ram) so no issue running on this: https://github.com/BogdanTheGeek/zForth

Allow me to brag about romforth (https://github.com/romforth/romforth) which I ported to the "3c" Padauk and can run on really small rom/ram microcontrollers. Caveats: - tested only on an emulator SDCC/ucsim_pdk, not on real hardware - given how small the ram is, there is no user dictionary but new words can be defined and tested using what the Forth folks refer to as "umbilical hosting".

There's a pretty amazing video where a guy makes an entire functioning e-bike battery out of disposable vapes that he gathered around a music festival. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcVp9T8f_W4 I can't fathom why disposables are legal. Really believed that the post-boomer generations actually gave a damn about waste.

Quitting smoking was the best decision I made and I wish I did it earlier. If you feel ready Allen Carr's book worked for me. I wasted so much time smoking.

Thanks man, appreciate it, and kudos for stopping.

I might quit, I guess, when my fiancee has to for pregnancy, should it eventually stop being funny to tell her how wonderful each individual cigarette I smoke is. But I really, really love smoking - more than any of my other hobbies, wholesome or otherwise.

I'm sure that'll change, and I'll look that book up if and when it does. Thanks again.

Does liberal mean something different where you live? Where I live, the right-wing republicans are the ones who are prone to letting corporations do whatever they want without regard to the people/environment getting hurt.

In this case I was referring to economic liberalism, the believe in private property, free markets, etc., not what Americans believe it means. This includes democrats and republicans [1], they are both economically liberal. I forgot Americans are under the impression that liberal means left-wing / democrat or something. The differences you point out are within this ideology, so like which industry do and don't we subsidize and regulate, etc. it has less meaning for people who aren't liberals.
