In Australia voting is mandatory. If you're registered to vote and you don't you can get fined. Yep. Brazil just had a record abstention in the last election (21.5%) and voting here is mandatory, probably because the voting day overlapped with a extended holiday. Might as well let only the interested ones vote, no?
