Am I crazy or doesn't this (temporary credit card numbers) already exist with a lot of major credit card vendors? I remember getting an Amex Blue card back in the early 2000's because it could do just that thing...
Same here. I recall it came with a USB card reader. You had to put the credit card into the reader to get the single use number... or something like that. The user experience was horrible. I don't think I actually ever got it to work. Surely things have improved since then though.
I've got a Visa card from Bank of America. I can log into their website, generate a disposable credit card number on the fly -- specifying my own credit limit and expiration date -- and then just paste the card info into the website I'm ordering from.
There's not a lot of friction in using this feature, and I use it all the time, so I find it pretty surprising that many people here seem to regard Final's implementation of the same thing as a brilliant innovation.
