Indeed, and while they did the recording for Dark Side of the Moon he miraculously, almost creepily appeared in the studio. They did not recognize him - bald head and all.

I did not know Sid got dozed without consent, but this is not something to do to people. There was knew a girl who was doing it and eventually everyone figured out and started avoiding her like plague.

I think it's more than that. They've heard for most of their lives that college is the way to a good job. Now they're graduating, many of them with debt, and as they do, they're hearing that AI means that the jobs won't be there. And now, at their commencement, someone is talking about AI. One of the people responsible is talking about AI! Who thought that this was going to go well?

That's all fair. Whether or not AI is the/a primary factor in the challenge in getting entry-level/junior roles especially in tech and especially in relation to the milk and honey situation the past decade+, I'm sure a lot of grads struggling to get interviews believe it is. Which makes a commencement speaker associated with Google and AI a rather tone-deaf choice.

I dont get this. Youre so morally opposed to AI music that youre afraid of listening to new stuff in fear of accidentally liking something made with/by AI?

For people who see art as human expression, AI generated music/literature/art is offensive. If they can't trust the artwork to be produced by a human being, they risk being betrayed.

Maybe it's a silly analogy, but you wouldn't buy unlabelled eggs in a supermarket if you are against cage farming because you don't want to accidentally support it.

As long as it's for personal use you don't publish it on a streaming platform or try to make money off of it, there is no problem as far as I'm concerned.

The issue is really the people who fill the streaming platforms with slop to make a quick buck, drowning out the real artists and producers in the process. (As if the Spotify model wasn't already bad enough for artists...)

it's a great last line; when trying to explain something to someone it behooves someone to ask a follow-up so they can clarify anything not yet answered.
