I am double vaccinated, pro vax, would get booster if I can, but if this happens in my country I will join the riots. I dont have solution, but if people dont want to get vaccinated they shouldn't be forced, period. I am afraid this pressure will create people that are against all vaccines, and when we get like 20% of new parents not vaccinating their new lockdown babies (which are a lot, everyone i know who can be p…

these things are incredibly cheap in Europe. Brother in law tests his kids that are in elementary school twice a week. You pick them up at the pharmacy for like $1.50 a pop.

No one is being forced. They're just being told to stay home if you're not going to be part of the greater good.

I would be fine with unvaxxed people remaining unvaxxed of their own free will if it were also a situation where the law said that anyone who does not get vaccinated during a pandemic when a vaccine is available (and obviously has no underlying medical condition that would put them at risk for a significant injury due to vaccination) while incurring significant medical bills for said pandemic would be liable for all medical bills. The rest of us shouldn't have to pay for premium increases because they're being stupid.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

I’m not vaccinated, this is how I feel. I am not militant or political about it. My wife and whole family are vaccinated and I helped them to do it. As a young man, the risk of heart issues does indeed outweigh the risk of hospitalisation from the virus (as I’ve weighed it, anyhow). Victoria, Australia has hit 90% double vaccinated and case numbers have not changed here. To see this underwhelming effect in light of t…

send families 1 test per week so they can stop the spread quicker This is a great idea, and I'm really curious why we don't have something like this, just mail a free mask and a free test to every address once a week, with a form to request more for larger households, or to request that they stop.

The US postal service isn't nearly robust enough to handle this. We saw that with physical unemployment checks last year when nearly everyone became eligible.

As a foreigner living in Germany I could live with it if there were otherwise sound measures, but it's mostly been a bunch of wishful thinking. There was a rush last summer to open everything up despite it being relatively clear it was way too early and a lot of people really understood it as "corona is over". Even this I could understand, but this year they do the same thing again! Surprise, surprise that there is a…

Germany had elections at the end of September, and I feel that this is the main reason for the catastrophy that is unfolding now. It has prevented the ruling parties from imposing stricter vaccination requirements more early on. They could have easily required everyone to be vaccinated by November first, and this current situation would have been spared. Now the government still has to do it, but they need to rush it…

This current wave moves from the east to the west. In fact, Germany has probably peaked, we have 4 days in a row of declining number of infections. France is at the beginning of the next wave, their number of today's infections is approaching German numbers.

The people not getting vaxed voluntarily are the same ones that would never sign up or take the test

The future looks grim with governments mandating health procedures on the population against their will

I'd rather be vaccinated than someone force Covid on me. To me, if you choose to be unvaccinated, you are showing how little you care about those around you and how little you care if they die.

Those around me, or are vaccinated so it does not matter, or chose not to be vaccinated in which case also does not matter

I would rather no one forces anything on anyone

If you don't enforce vaccination, you have to ration medical care.

Should someone come in to the hospital presenting with COVID symptoms they get tested. If you pop hot and are unvaccinated, you are sent home with your freedoms, liberties, self reliance, and a pain management pack. People who got vaccinated will have the now heavily unburdened healthcare system dedicated to making them better.

I find it ironic that there are plenty comments that paint the picture of how mandatory vaccinations divide the country.

Hello? Have you been awake for the last month? How much more divided can a country already be when the absolute democratic majority has made their decision months ago to take the shot but 30% are holding everyone back. Anyone in my family or from my friends that has taken one for the team (and got vaccinated) could receive worse-than-usual ICU treatment because of some egoistic anti-vaxxers. Hell, even anti-vaxxers benefit from better ICU treatment if vaccination numbers are higher.

Yes, this is a democracy and so it can also be deemed legitimate and representative to govern according to the majority decision. Besides, it's in everyone's best interest to get vaccinated.

Realistically: 1) Mandatory vaccination, all age groups, boosters etc. AND 2) permanently reconfiguring our society to reduce social contacts such that with the vaccines, COVID is suppressed. If the vaccines work well, then small (maybe no) changes will be needed. If they don't, then large changes. WFH, no indoor hospitality etc. We can cycle through lockdowns, we can wring our hands about vaccinating children, we ca…

Despite the wide variety of US state responses, no one is experiencing "complete failure of our healthcare" so I think we'll be all right.
