There is quite a stretch from “unacceptable risk to national security” to “absolutely any foreign-made equipment”. And that stretch has everything to do with the current administration.

The good news is this domain doesn't call for cutting edge, 2 nm process. There are more than a half dozen fabs in the US which can produce networking chips like ethernet controllers, line drivers, SOC, etc: Intel, TI, Samsung, et al. If US wanted to onshore routers, we could make it happen.

You are missing something. Trump is open for business, and will happily give you an exemption in exchange for a large sum of cash.

Yeah, this is probably the point. His MO, over and over, is to take something away from you and then sell it back.

That act does not require the FCC to issue any blanket ruling like this. And the "unaccceptable risk" provision is legally dubious at best.
