Exactly. There is no cult of "free speech" in Europe. We will just block such sites if they don't reform.

New Zealand has a senior government position non-ironically named "Chief Censor." They don't even pretend to have free speech, and certainly don't get to lecture anyone on moral bankruptcy.

Yeah. Most people shouting "free speech" are fully aware that shouting "Fire! Fire!" in a cinema might be "free speech" but is certainly not free of consequences. I'm pretty sure "the usual fools" turn out to be complete hypocrites when it's their girlfriend/sister/mother getting rape threats too... As much as the mainstream on here/reddit is afraid of Europe 'breaking' the internet I'm kinda excited. The interesting stuff will remain underground/out of the mainstream and these 'scale monsters' in US social media might not be able to operate in the way they have been pushing all the negative externalities on to society even if we don't use them.

For those of us outside the U.S. that don't subscribe to their view on free speech... it's not a negative.

A screenshot of Facebook's message that it's not against their standards, I mean. That should be easily reprintable, unless it contains the original image.

What would that screenshot prove, without the original image next to it? All it proves was that something was reported, but Facebook disagreed. Could be something horrific, or it could be a picture of a tree. There is no shocking news story here.

That line of argument leads to never being able to report anything. Just report it, and let the police and journalists figure out the details.
