I, on the other hand, can't see a single reason why somebody would want a tablet. We've had some, and they all ended up forgotten in a drawer. Either I'm in a place where I have whatever limited portability I can (so I use the phone) or I have a laptop with proper keyboard, applications and OS. I like to read comics and I’m too lazy to bring tablet with me. I am thinking about buying foldable.

That said, not at this price point and with Pixels not known for their hardware quality. Maybe I’ll wait for when Apple inevitably does their foldable.

0% interest for the life of the loan is something you should use for all but the most trivial of purchases. It's effectively reducing the price of the product by several percent, since you'll be paying for it with inflated dollars as time goes on. And that's even if you don't do anything with the money but stick it under your mattress. Could also put part of it into some short-term CDs or T-bills (interest rates are great right now) and put that loaned money to work for you. Hell, you can even get north of 3% interest with some savings accounts now.

I'm probably in the market for a new phone this year, and I'd absolutely do the 0% 24-month financing even for a "normal" priced phone. I get that some people are debt-averse, and I understand why, but if you can afford to pay for this phone outright, shying away from the financing plan is irrational.

I feel the trend to bigger phones is probably indicative of phones being the sole computing device for more and more people. Anecdotal, but one example is my parents. I've watched them go from having desktops to laptops to iPads while they kept getting the biggest iPhone available. Now, their phones are pretty much all they use (outside of a smart TV and an Amazon Echo).

My parents and all their peers (born early 60s or before) have the biggest phone they can buy because they have the font size set to the largest setting.

Fi user here: I don't see this offer anywhere. Inside the Fi store it shows a $1000 trade-in offer but that's it.

Yeah reading the specs, it's s larger screen than my Nexus 7 tablet, with a smaller overall device size, and fits in my pocket.. it's tempting. But definitely pausing at a $1800 price tag

They're $1100 if you subscribe to Google's phone plan

I had the zflip 3. Loved that thing. No problems for a year+. Traded it in for the flip 4 which died in two months. Not sure if I was just unlucky but I'm done with foldable for the foreseeable future.

Not having problems for a year is pretty low bar for any phone these days.

The inevitable Apple foldable will come with the inevitable Apple price. I'd say $2000.

I'm really perplexed too especially since the crease is still so visibile and the build quality so weak.

I feel like carrying small phone and a tablet/laptop is still a significantly better value any way you look at it unless you travel a lot without any storage on your human. I found the most ergonomic travel setup for me is a Lenovo Yoga laptop and the small samsung s22. Both of which can be bought for less than 1800$.

Huh? My left thumb can reach the button just as well as my right one when using one hand. This is on a iPhone SE

It’s mounted on the right side on Pixel fold, like on Samsung S10e and Samsung fold.
