German internet is a joke. The words 'Unity Media' are enough to send a shiver down the spine. Connection on the Autobahn would be laughable if you were not already crying..

Most of my friends are moving toward pirate TV boxes. I'm thinking about it for my mom: the cableco's STB shows every channel in the guide, whether you get it or not. And you only realize it when you try to go to the channel. They have updated the box to show more ads in the guide though... Argh.

Only one ISP/cable TV company has local hockey on the Community Access channel no other ISP/Cable has it. Dad would never go to any other company since he likes local hockey. Mom isn't much for TV just the local news and a few British comedies but only TV not streaming or DVD.

Streaming video is not the same experience as TV. My parents would never sit down and binge watch or even watch a video on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. It's just not how they see TV. They wouldn't even have watched a VHS or DVD it's just not how they see TV. To them it's more like radio it's read only, you sit you watch, no control other than on or off.
