Canada doesn't. It puts Canadian monarchs on its coins. The fact that they are physically the same person as the British monarch is incidental.
I’ve been to Canada, and the people strangely have a wildly different accent than their own monarchs for some reason.

Perhaps so. Should you care, here’s the link to correct Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_monarchs
That page correctly describes the different entities that are all called ‘Canada’. It’s not wrong. The one that has its own monarch - the King/Queen of Canada - is the modern one, established in 1984. Previous to that, the UK’s monarch had dominion over Canada. In 1984 the roles were made distinct.

What? Neither of those three applies to a shoreline.
Physical shorelines instantiations of a true fractal are always limited. I'd go so far as to say that there is no such real object in the world.
Anyway, true fractal shorelines definitely never put sugar on their porridge.

#324I’ve been really sad getting older and having so much more context on Britain. My family weirdly had access to all of British TV in US growing up and they had fantastic programs. Now, I feel they are a joke. They seem like a strong example of what absolutely not to do. Their cultural exports have sunk. The arrested citizens for social media posts seems draconian. The economy barely hanging on. I understand the Media…
You’re just insane. It’s in the middle of the pack in the G7 in terms of size and recently at the top on growth. It does not have many problems that most other western countries do not also have. It’s significantly richer than Japan.
I'd be interested in knowing what you think those problems are?

Burning cars and rioting after the last three referendums (which had excluded 100k people who had arrived after 1998) didn't go your way is sure a way to get ahead in politics. Also what would be your proposed solution? Make the island be independent and let the Kanak expulse anyone who isn't like them? Because such blood and soil were usually spouted by people wearing brown shirts in Europe in the 30s.
Your judgement on what or isn't good politics is of no interest to me> I have not proposed any solution because I have zero skin in the game, it was merely produced as an example of the sun setting on an empire. Why all you trolls feel the need to make accusations, put words into other people's mouths, and demand "proposals" is beyond me - seems like either an inability to read and comprehend things, or a deliberate…
Personally I don't see New Caledonia getting independent anytime soon, because the current French government isn't interested in granting it and the Kanaks don't have the numbers or foreign support to stage a successful independence war.

Wasn't the Roman empire better than most contemporary polities? Like it created a long era of peace in a significant area and successfully integrated various population, culminating in the 3rd century where all free men were made roman citizens. If you'd ask under which ancient polity I would prefer to live, chance are I'll choose the Roman empire.
If aliens invaded earth and after decades of subjugation they successfully "integrated" us savages, they would view it the same way. The forceful destruction of all our culture, languages, religions, history, sovereignty, it would all be justified in the end because their alien technology and culture is "superior". I don't believe it's justified no matter how relatively primitive we are, and if aliens did it that alo…

I feel a citation is needed for that, since it seems in direct conflict with the given history of the word which was that Cartier heard the local indian youths at the village of Stadacona call their village "kanata" (village) and believed that it was the word for the entire area. There was no "invader's village" to even refer to at the time.
Looking into it online now, yes I agree that wherever I heard that from contradicts the established histories. It's too late for me to delete my comment, so if we could just start downvoting it so it disappears that would be great.
"Our word for village is kanata, "canada" is a totally different word for the 'village of the invaders'"
Something like that.

They were highly systematic and oppressive. Castes have been separated for long enough and strongly enough for there to be detectable genetic differences. Caste is far older than western colonialism. The genetic evidence shows that castes oppression has been enough to suppress intermarriage for millennia: https://www.livescience.com/38751-genetic-study-reveals-cast... > Boy how do we even talk about neocolonialism to…
I'm not I'm saying the British colonial rule made it worse, here is a good summary: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-48619734 and: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system_in_India#During_B...

Wales and in a large part Ireland were conquered long before British Empire was a thing, though.
The correct labels werent yet applied it doesnt count! Bear in mind that a lot of the bad policies only started to be repealed in like the 60s. And that among other things, both suffered through a lot of the forced cultural assimilation the british empire was peddling.
