I feel like there will be a minimal UI/no screen but it will have 9 far field microphones. 2-3 cameras , an iris scanner, GPS, and lidar. This is because it is a data collection device for use in OpenAI's future models, more than it is a an assistant.

The description makes me think that it's targeted at the "screenless" trend. Especially among young people there is a trend to cut down on smartphone usage. Not sure about the others, but a Google Home device with Gemini enabled gives you basically short conversational LLM interactions. It can set timers and play music and all that, but you can also pretty much ask it any random question and it will give you an LLM answer.
It's far more useful than the previous Google Assistant answers which were always of the form, "According to petmd.com - [direct quote]".

I'm talking about the Google app on every Android with gapps on it. It used to be able to do this for you, and now it just does web search. It's a massive downgrade.
