articles like these almost always strike me as sour grapes, people trying to make vibe coding look bad, because of job security. Is vibe code good? I would argue, for the vast amount of BS little corporate IT projects out there yes, and it's just going to improve. Is it good enough for anything serious...hell no, but it might be soon.

#32I agree that AI today over-engineers. However with the rate that everything is improving, do people really think that it's also not going to be able to refactor and optimise the code in a year or two from now? It can already do a decent job at it today if you prompt it to.

Because they're seeing the writing on the wall - the economic is going to shit. Their "record revenues and profits" just come from squeezing their customers, already at breaking point, to the max, to just move the needle in the stock market. They know this is not sustainable at all.
Isn't the assumption of overall economic growth kind of load bearing for capitalism? What happens when the whole economy starts planning for contraction instead?

Sure! Would you check their work? Of course! Would you hand off all of a major tech company to be entirely built by interns? Of course not!
Stupid but industrious and prolific. Also very confident.
But still more skilled at the creation of software, from a well scoped natural language description, than perhaps 99% of humans.

Open code doesn't even let you press end or home to control the text cursor. And it also has buggy error messages like a 400 or 500 corrupts the whole view box sometimes

My dentist is more skilled at dentistry than 99.999% of humans. Why would I want to replace her with a machine which is more skilled than 99% of non dentists but 1000 times worse by an educated experienced dentist?
