I'm quite surprised at that; they have a fairly good database and if you don't have a telly they will usually knock you off it after asking. Nice emotive use of 'hatemail' though. Personally, I very much hope the BBC sticks to its existing funding model.
Hatemail is about right. The letters all but implied that I was lying, that I was a criminal; they told me about all the ways that they would prove that someone like me could be found to be a criminal and they told me about how they prosecute people like me. They ended with a message about how to contact them if I reconsidered.
I wish I'd kept the letter now, it was a horrible piece of bullying.
