These are not cheap mice. Someone paid for the mice and it wasn’t a scientist.

> Wang Zhaolin, a representative of the company operating the lab, Prestige Biotech, told investigators that the mice inside the warehouse had been genetically engineered to catch and spread the COVID-19 virus, according to The San Joaquin Valley Sun. This fact alone shocks the conscience. Criminal charges should fly swift and fierce against everyone involved in this illegal operation. What’s horrifying is that this…

Cool your jets there, Maverick. It's not even clear from the article what was illegal about the lab, much less that China was operating it. You can't just say "illegal lab," "COVID-19 virus," and some random Chinese name and jump to those conclusions.

It's pretty compelling at this point that a chinese lab had a significant undertaking in the development and spread of covid and if you're looking for a 100% undeniable explanation it doesn't exist because that opportunity to investigate is long gone and the Chinese gov forbade anyone from doing a meaningful investigation. Also complicating the truth coming out is that the USA likely played a part through NIH funding the Wuhan lab.

Why anyone acts like it's a conspiracy at this point is pretty funny. This is certainly the time to be skeptical.

OP's probably being ironic.

I know people personally who'd say something like that unironically so was hoping I'd be able to pick that type of person's brain

See r/k selection theory on https://www.anonymousconservative.com ; the "it's a conspiracy, sweety" mentality is pure R psychology

To quote Steve Gibson: "What could possibly go wrong?"

Haven't seen that name in a while! I have fond memories of both Spinrite and ShieldsUp

I can sense you're a sage from the online realms where squirrels with prodigious love nuggets were revered.

Addresses for registered agents that turn out to be empty offices? That is not nothing. It's something shady. It's hard to tell, just from that, what specifically it is, but it's not nothing.

If Occam’s razor leads to a conspiracy theory then Occam’s Razor has lost all meaning. Which unfortunately has happened at least on the internet. It’s literally become the new literally :-)

Holding Occam's Razor constant, perhaps the meaning of "conspiracy theory" has been expanded.

Not everything has a causal chain that's 100.0% provable with publicly-available evidence. See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plausible_deniability

Oh, sure, it's definitely something with respect to the idea that things aren't exactly above board here, but it's a pile of nothing with respect to the idea that the Chinese government has anything to do with the lab. It could honestly be anything from Mafia to terrorism to just some shady business dealings. Evidence doesn't really point in any particular direction just yet.
