#34I provide DevOps and CloudOps Advisory Services to help you make intelligent choices in your cloud architecture, application design, DevOps process implementation, security and operational practices. My unique enterprise-grade approach addresses key concerns like future growth, HA, security, reliability and failover.
Whether you own a startup or work for a large organisation, having good advice will always save you time and money.
My expertise is based on 30 years of hands-on technical experience in all areas of IT, but particularly in architecting, building and managing data-driven cloud platforms.
Here are some recent examples of my work:
- Organisational-level DevOps tooling and security implementations
- Disaster recovery (vm to regional-level scenarios) design and implementation
- Global Azure infrastructure architecture design, deployment, management and security
- Productionalising Kafka and Confluent Connect clusters (SSL, SASL, ACLs, Debezium)
- Tracking down performance bottlenecks in Elasticsearch and Solr
- Refactoring of complex Java-based containerised applications
- Validation of greenfield project designs
- Single-pane-of-glass dashboard design in Datadog, Splunk and Azure
- Deploying a custom global, multi-cloud, Kubernetes-based PaaS (AWS and Azure)
Here are some of the technologies I work with on a daily basis: - Cloud providers: Azure, AWS
- Microservices: Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL
- NoSQL: Elasticsearch, Solr, Mongo
- Data products: Kafka, Storm, Spark

#35I have a PhD in operations research---essentially, I solve optimization problems. You can give me a real-world problem and I can translate it into a mathematical model that can be solved (often optimally) via integer programming, constraint programming, or other methods.
I'm currently working on a column generation-based daily fantasy sports (DFS) solver as a personal project. Taking as input the predictions/requirements of the user, this solver can generate optimal lineups for multi-entry tourneys. It is, as far as I'm aware, the only DFS solver that can generate provably optimal sets of lineups for multi-entry DFS tourneys.

#3817 years experience across a mixture of Ops/Infrastructure/Dev-Tools and web application architecture and development, with a focus on solving unique/uncommon problems.
I’m looking for opportunities to help companies with backend/server-side architecture & development (primarily PHP MVC), system integration and/or server infrastructure setup/maintenance.
I mostly work remotely from Thailand, on a reasonably flexible schedule (I can schedule work hours to get overlap with most other timezones when required) but on-site visits to pretty much anywhere are a possibility if required too.
Contact me via email (in my profile) if you want to have a chat about what you’re working on!
