Thanks! I enjoyed that evening in the museum. My spherical camera is still working as well.

wait... you are on freenode irc network too or just attending the freenode.live event?

Sadly I was only hanging out at the live event (as the so-called “entertainment”).

I swear everyone who advertises here says the same thing. "Hello everyone. Didn’t expect to see myself here." followed by you can get my product here.

You're probably thinking it's a bit suspicious seeing that the account was made 62 minutes after the post was submitted. It could be that the user just browses HN regularly, saw this post about him, and wanted to separate his comment histories from his main account.

I can share how it happened. I logged into HN today to read more about the Apple/Amazon/China news, then almost spat out my coffee when I saw Matt was #1 on Hacker News. I went to high school & university with Matt, so it felt really surreal, and I immediately tweeted Matt to tell him:

Hello everyone. Didn’t expect to see myself here. I was so startled I made an account. Ah… you’ll probably enjoy my new book about maths mistakes. Check if your favourite programming error is in there! http://wwwh.umble-pi.com

Does it cover the Parker Square?

Are the floppy disks 3 1/2 or 5 1/4?

They are 3½. We’re not monsters.

720KB LD I would hope. You need to maximise compatibility! Not all of us can afford those new fangled HD or ED drives!

I can confirm all of this is true. I mean, I don’t know how close SyneRyder was to spitting out coffee (or even if they were drinking coffee? how deep does this go?) but everything else is a fact.

Hey Matt! I'm surprised you didn't have an account before, although I guess lurking's a lot easier around these parts.

I just wanted to let you know that I've been a really big fan for a really long time, and you are part of the reason I'm so openly nerdy and excited about math and science in general. Thanks for all of the amazing content you put out.

Also, Let me know if you're gonna be in the Boston area any time. I'd love to buy you a pint.
