How is drawing attention to another way freedom of speech has been abridged a “religious flame war”? This is extremely relevant to the topic: freedom of speech in the United Kingdom. I'm not saying anything about Islam or any other religion.

How so? The prosecution had nothing to do with syria. That helped his case.
The arrest had everything to do with his travel to Syria.
What you're arrested for and what you're prosecuted for are really two totally separate issues. Arresting someone who fought in Syria is pretty reasonable. Finding out that they fought for the Western-backed "good guys" is a great reason to drop the charges, which they did.
Charging him for owning a book is what they did too.

Find just one person who has been arrested for "criticising Islam", rather than for calling for death to all muslims or for the bombing of mosques.

I’m not saying these people were reasonable or thoughtful in their comments. Most of them are downright despicable for saying what they did. But being a hateful moron shouldn’t be illegal.
You’re really cherry picking the cases. A lot of the arrests have been over nasty things said about Muslims as a group, not calls for violence. The people who said them are wrong, but they shouldn’t be made into criminals. This man for example, was arrested for tweeting that he asked a Muslim woman about an attack and didn’t like her response: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/mar/23/london-man-c... . It’s certainly rude what he did, but not illegal and it’s not even what he was arrested for. He was arrested for the tweet.
Out of respect for the moderators of this site, misguided as they may be in wanting this conversation to end, I think we should end this conversation or take it elsewhere.

You made a claim - that mere criticism of Islam was leading o arrest.
I asked you to support that claim, and despite your very best cherry picking you have been unable to find a single person arrested for criticising Islam. What you did find is people sending death threats; people calling for a campaign of bombing of mosques; pedophiles grooming children.
