Netflix is known to be at the high end of salary as base pay. You can see the numbers yourself by looking at H1B petitions. I see many software engineers above $300k [1]. Agreed. Netflix is known to be an outlier. My understanding is that it is also a relatively high stress place to work.

Having met a number of Netflix employees (and knowing one extremely well), I don't think this is actually true. YMMV.
