Sure, but only if by "hardcore scouting" you mean right-wing, evangelical Christan scouting.
Fact is: a great many parents DO want the Oath's inclusion of "a Scout is...clean and...reverent" to mean something in opposition to enforced normalizing of anal sex and atheism. If that means some will construe traditional American values and "non denominational" Christianity as "right wing evangelical" (expressed as a pejorative at that) then so be it.
