I can't think of any software engineers I personally know who use Mac. In my industry, pretty much anyone who uses Mac is in a managerial position.
Every engineer at my job uses a mac. Same for my friends job. In fact, the only people who use windows are finance people, HR, etc

They actually don't, which is why the vast majority of software developers would never "raise an eyebrow" to the very well known obviously true statement that the vast majority of laptops are only sold with Microsoft Windows, regardless of what they themselves or their coworkers use.

Yes, but most people bought IBM Compatibles, not IBM. I don't think I know anyone who bought an actual IBM PC.
Cassette BASIC was exclusive to early IBM PCs, XTs and PC Jrs. PCs like Compaq's, with their very, very compatible BIOS, didn't have BASIC in ROM.

I bought a pack of Win10 pro keys for $5 a key. Gray market site, but 100% legit. The few times I needed a key, it worked the first time. And for a friend who needed Win11, the upgrade from 10 Pro to 11 worked first time. I'd never pay more than $5 per Windows key. But I prefer Linux instead.
Grey market means the codes often work (valid KMS generation etc) because they match the algo,
and or were validly issued to a manufacturer,
but that doesn’t make them “100% legit”.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Dell probably had standing orders to not bother to argue with someone who wanted a reimbursement for Windows, and just get it over with.
