The only way you will get change at scale before disaster is to help people keep their lifestyle. Climate change is a fixable problem. It is not anywhere near the point that choices will be made for people in the next two to three decades.
Curbing climate change without curbing behavior and lifestyle are completely at odds with each other.
That is not the case. In the past we've made huge improvements to human efficiency in terms of resource usage and waste output. We still can and will. Unless we destroy the economy before we can develop the required technology.
